When designing a business card for your employees or yourself, you are often confused about how much information to put in there. Too much information on the little 3.5″x 2″ card would make it crowded. On the other hand, too little information could fail to serve the purpose of the business card.

We are here with a helpful guide on what you should put on a business card, so when you take it out of your cardholder and give it to someone, it leaves an impression:

1.      Company Name and Logo

The first and most important information on your business card is your company name and logo. Without the name, the receiver won’t remember who the card is from and without the logo, the card would look bare and simple.

The company name is the largest on the card and the logo is at the top right or at times, takes up the entire space at the back.

2.      Company Description

If your company name does not specify the kind of company, and your company is not renowned, it is better to add a short 3–4-word description about the company beneath the name.

For example, ReliveNow is the name of a company, but it doesn’t show what the company does. A short description of “Mental health solutions” could work wonders, especially if you’re giving away cards at a conference or a recruitment drive.

3.      Name and Role

The other most important detail on a business card is your name and role in the company. This will allow prospects to address you when they contact you. Even if you’re a solopreneur, mentioning your role as Founder or CEO is important information for partnership prospects and even clients.

4.      Contact details

The purpose of a business card is to network with people. So, contact details including a phone number, email address, and office address are important.

To include all the information on a small card, you could go for double-sided printing. The front of the card could have the company logo, name, and office address while the back of the car. The back of the card could have your name, role in the company, contact details and most importantly – some white space.

5.      Social Media

Nowadays contact information is incomplete without information about social media handles. However, it’s not possible to add the details of every social media channel you’re on. Depending on the type of company you are and your target audience, choose one or two social media channel details to add to your card. Alternatively, you could add a QR code to your card to lead the prospect to a page with all your social media channel links.

Conclusion

Your business cards should have all the information essential for creating a network. It should use clear fonts and keep sufficient white spacing on the card. That way, it looks clean and is readable.
